Following the 2005 £2million Lhanbryde Flood Alleviation Scheme, near Elgin in Moray, in Summer 2014, Salix worked with Royal HaskoningDHV engineers to improve erosion control on the dam’s spillway.
After the village had suffered five separate flood events in the 1990’s, the Lhanbryde flood defence scheme created an upstream flood storage reservoir and made improvements to the capacity of the watercourse running through the village.
As part of ongoing maintenance and flood protection improvements at Lhanbryde, Salix supplied and installed 6,000m2 of VMax P550 for the dam’s spillway. The P550 is the highest performing product in the range.
Having grass on the dam’s spillway makes the area’s rainwater dissipation more efficient. During flood conditions, the spillway at Lhanbryde must endure high velocity water forces and required a permanent solution with P550.
