Salix supplied AquaRock Bags to provide an environmentally sensitive solution yet robust solution to protect the toe of the embankment from further slips and limit the potential for further erosion.
Following successive high levels in the winter of 2020, a 14-metre section of riverbank on the River Gipping in Bramford, Suffolk, failed due to erosion at the toe.
The erosion caused a bank slip, damaging the structural integrity of the flood bund, which is an Environment Agency asset, as well as damaging the public footpath.
Salix supplied AquaRock Bags to provide an environmentally sensitive solution yet robust solution to protect the toe of the embankment from further slips and limit the potential for further erosion.
Coir Rolls which come pre-established with wetland plants were installed on top of the AquaRock Bags, to speed up vegetation establishment and provide a continuation of the habitat which previously existed.
The installed products are performing well, I have no doubt that we shall be a customer of yours again in the near future.
