AquaRockBags® were installed by the local council highways team to prevent a road subsiding due to scour and erosion caused by the adjacent watercourse.
AquaRockBags® were chosen over rock armour revetment due to the rapid speed of installation and the fact that they blend in more sensitively with the local environment. A site visit 18 months post installation shows vegetation establishing within the ARB’s.
Visually they are far less intrusive than gabions, rip rap or Blockstone and provide a revetment that’s absorptive rather than reflective helping to reduce the effects of further scouring downstream.
