The current harsh winter conditions have frozen our 20 acre constructed wetbeds at our own nursery in Norfolk.
A blanket of snow and ice has completely covered our pre-established coir rolls and coir pallets – yet this does not present us with a problem as growing all our coir products outside creates very hardy, mature wetland planting stock compared with growing quickly in a greenhouse.
Outside growing helps to establish strong roots and a healthier, more natural looking plant. The majority of our stock was planted early in 2012 and therefore the plants have had time to mature through the coir fibre rolls and pallets.
This future crop will provide our clients with high quality bioengineering solutions for soil erosion control in rivers, canals and lakes, plus instant wetland, reedbed and marginal habitat creation for endangered species such as water vole and newts.
