In response to a redesign Salix were approached to come up with an effective, quality solution to erosion control on a SuDS project.

A natural looking outcome was desired by the project owners, Hall Construction, which could also withstand high flows and turbulence.

Rock Rolls and Rock Mattresses are both easy to put into place, prevent erosion and can withstand high flows whilst allowing for the natural establishment of plants.

Adrian Hill of AECOM commented that the Rock Rolls and Rock Mattress were more aesthetic than the original proposal and that this system is more in keeping with current thinking.

On completion, Stephen Bromley, Hall Construction’s Business Development Manager stated the project team considered that benefits included:

• Reduced production and installation time on site
• Quality products
• Would use Salix again on similar schemes
