Copy Hold Slip, Haywards Heath

Client: BAM Ritchies working for Network Rail

Project Brief: A series of potentially dangerous deep seated failures on a railway embankment required treatment to prevent further slips.

The Solution: The upper section of the slope was regraded to 30 degrees to reduce the slope angle and overburden weight. The geotechnical issues of ground stability were resolved using soil nailing. The surface erosion was solved by using North American Green (NAG) C350 composite Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) over 50mm of seeded topsoil. The whole surface was then covered with a rock netting. The entire works were carried out by BAM Ritchies with Salix supplying the NAG C350.

The Result: Grass establishment through the NAG C350 has been excellent and the surface now provides a long term reinforced vegetative covering.
