Salix Cell
Application
Salix Cell is manufactured from strips of thermally bonded non woven fabric configured as a three dimensional honeycomb webbing.
It is used to hold topsoil or other loose material on a compacted steep engineered slope. The slopes can be road or rail cuttings, river banks, ditches, spillways, and other exposed areas where slumping or erosion are a risk. The Salix Cell system can help to prevent the mass movement by confining soils and aggregates to within the permeable cell walls.
Varying applications are afforded by selecting alternative in-fill materials.
Landscaped topsoil of significant depth is held on steep embankments up to 45 degrees.
Permeable flexible vehicle tracks are made using a granular in-fill, often used to protect tree roots that run under a road.
Salix Cell filled with free draining granular material can provide an "Erosion Controlled Wildfowl Access Ramp" to lake edges.
Artificial riffles can be fixed in watercourses by installing the cell units on the bed and gravel filling.
