Rock Rolls

Salix manufacture Rock Rolls and distribute throughout the UK. Alternatively, we can manufacture on site using a mobile jig using locally sourced stone. Rock Rolls are a flexible revetment for use around lake edges and on streams and river banks. Rock Rolls are a cost-effective revetment that is a suitable alternative to gabion baskets and mattresses in many applications.

Rock Rolls provide a flexible solution to many scour problems particularly below low water level, where bioengineering techniques will not function. When used in conjunction with Coir Rolls, Coir Pallets or live willow, Rock Rolls provide a sustainable vegetated solution. Rock Rolls use a smaller stone size than gabions. This results in rapid silt accretion and vegetation establishment. Smaller stone provides invertebrate habitat and an accessible corridor for invertebrates to move from the channel on to riparian vegetation.

Rock Rolls can also be stitched together to form Rock Chambers, an alternative to Gabion Mattresses. These can even be pre-vegetated at our nursery to create an instant green solution.
