Floating Reed Islands
Salix Floating Islands are a bespoke, fully portable, floating refuge that provide instant cover, habitat and protection for fish, invertebrates and mammals. In addition, they improve water quality and can be used in fluctuating water levels. The modular floating frame supports Pre-Established (vegetated) Coir Fibre Coir Pallets. As the pallets mature both the vegetation and root establishment provides a haven for all kinds of aquatic life. The island's protective measures are further enhanced when fitted with a fish refuge, the meshed cage allows fish stocks in but keeps predators out. The refuge provides further cover when hazel faggots, branches or even spawning brushes are placed inside.
